With Talana Hill to the right, an example of a stone wall used by the British troops for cover and rest during their ascent.

In places, the path to the top of Talana hill can be flat and, in this case, very steep.

Talana Hill Cemetery, as it was when I camped there in 1978. In a shaded glade, surrounded by wattle and cypress trees, it was a beautiful, tranquil spot. The cooing doves added to the atmosphere perfectly.
As I understand it, the woodland has now been cleared and much of the cemetery's character lost.
