For completeness this is Graham's helmet, which I referred to in an earlier post. The label inside shows his name and regiment and it came in a named tin, which is in the loft so not included in the photo.

Fascinating additions to this thread recently showing the stained glass, stone, memorial and sword. Thanks. Incidentally, Thornbury appears to have been very lucky as regards deaths. My impression is that the ratio of dead to survivors is much lower than I've seen elsewhere for WW1.

Very nice, I remember you posting that helmet. Too bad an officers military items get scattered by the wind and most lose any attribution and history is lost

Medals possibly still with family? The sword was at auction and said to be from family but these things get split between families over time also.
Always thought an officers sword that accompanied him through actions and career would be worth as much as medals awarded after the fact but this is not the case. Can always dream!
