My great grandfather, William M. Yeager, born in 1878 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania had listed the fact that he fought in the Boer War along side the British cited in his obituary.
How do I find a list of Americans that fought with the British in the 1898-1902 era? He fought in the Spanish American War in Cuba and in the Philippines. He also may have been in the Boxer Rebellion in China.

Can you refer me to a link or website that lists the names and regiments of the 300 Americans that fought in the 2nd Boer War?

Any suggestions would be appreciated

I am afraid that he is not listed under Boer War in Find-My-Past.......

Thanks Mike! You saved me tons of research time. I appreciate you sending me the link. To your knowledge, were all names of fighters documented?

One more shot in the dark...Any chance Americans coming back from the Philippines and Boer War gave some support to the British Troops from their ships? They probably came back around the southern tip of Africa. The time period seems to overlap with his travels to the Phillipines and China.

Sorry but there is no computer link as this is a list that I have put together from a book called Knowing No Fear the history of the regiment.....

The documentation is located in Pretoria.....

There is also a book on the American Irish who served with the Boers....

Your man would not have served with a regular British unit..... Maybe he served with a South African raised unit.....

Leonard Chadwick (24 November 1878 – 18 May 1940) born in Middletown, Delaware and was awarded the Medal of Honor in the Spanish–American War with the US Navy. He joined Robert’s Horse in South Africa and was the South African recipient of the Queen’s Scarf.

Attached is a pic of a winner of the Queen's Scarf; text gives details of the scarf, design,etc. The attached pic is from Vol2 of "After Pretoria the Guerilla War" and is not of your man Chadwick of Robert's Horse. However some detail is given about his actions during the Spanish-American war. We should be able to pick up a pic of Tpr. Chadwick - I will see what I can find later today.
