This is probably way out of date. I have a copy of most of the diary. Sadly, some of the pages covering the period from February 7 to February 25 and the last page/s containing the relief and subsequent events is missing.

Thank you for your message, Simon.

These issues are never out of date.

If the diary is out of copyright, perhaps you can share a copy with me and I can add it to the site?

Dear Rob D. Regrettably I did not get to see your message pasted some time ago. Sorry. Really appreciate your taking the time to send a response, plus attachments, to my original message. Yep. I have called the Carbineers, but of course they are 'not in a position' to provide any historical information. I also reached out to my very own regiment (NMR in Durban) to see if they could possibly move things along on my behalf - but they could unfortunately not assist me. I see there is a new and recent posting suggesting someone actually has the diary (original??) which I will be looking into soon. Regards. Lancelot Wingfield

I have just picked up Simon's message, I am excited to learn that there is indeed a copy of my late Grandfathers 'Siege Diary' out there. .
Might you have received a copy of the diary/? The Wingfield Family Society (of which i am a Director) would be MOST interested to view/have a copy for our records and fellow Members. My e/mail address is : [email protected].

Hello again Simon. Really sorry to raise this old topic once again. I think you indicated previously that you had a copy of my late Grandfathers Siege of Ladysmith Diary but had a few pages missing. Kindly let me know how I can get a copy from you. Prepared to pay for the copy or copy pages to be sent to the Wingfield Family Society office in the USA. My email address is: [email protected].
Many thanks,

Lancelot
