Hi We have a photograph of a soldier that may or may not be my maternal grandfather which my mother had. I have been trying to trace the regiment he was in and have been informed that the ribbon above his pocket may indicate the Natal Rebellion Medal. I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether it is or not and any other information. I have attached a copy - it is not a very clear photograph as my mother carried it around with her and it has got rather worn. My mother was told this was a photograph of her father but we have no name but it was found amongst my grandmothers possessions. Any help would be very welcome.

WORLD WAR ONE, MIDDLESEX REGIMENT, RANK LANCE-CORPORAL

But without a name it is impossible to find out for sure...…

I'm even less of an expert than Mike, but I've attached a photo of a Middlesex Regiment cap badge.
