I'm researching Charles Sharpe (DOW as WO2 20.10.1915) and a note on the CWG page says "Mentioned in Despatches 1901". Is there somewhere I can check this out please? Also if you have access to the medal rolls, which Boer War medals was he entitled to and which clasps? (The connection is that my daughter lives in his onetime home).He was shown as a Colour Serjeant in the 1911 Census. Thanks.

There are a few C Sharpes on the roll. What regiment was he in in 1915?

There are some men named Sharpe on the MID page but not with the initial C.

He was with the Suffolk Regiment in 1915 and there is a C Sharpe in the Suffolk Regiment in the Boer War. 2414 Sergeant C Sharp earned the clasps Johannesburg, CC and OFS (WO100/174p380 refers). He served with the 8th Mounted Infantry.

He earned the KSA with 2 clasps (WO100/323p83).

There is a history of the Suffolk Regiment.

There are service papers for him at the National Archives or available online for a fee at FindMyPast.

He was mentioned in despatches 4 September 1901 by Lord Roberts, as C Sharp.

Is it a coincidence that a man called Risby is also mentioned?
