I have had a look through Woolmore's book on SH and there are no pics I could see where the lads were wearing feathers in their slouch hats. Incidentally, Woolmore does illustrate shoulder titles and unit badge for Steinaecker's Horse - and the shoulder titles show the individual letters "S" and "H" are joined by a horizontal bar.
The Scottish Horse wore a black cock's tail hackle behind the slouch hat badge; however, the very few Scottish Horse shoulder titles I have seen show "ScH". Just in case, I did check the rolls for both Regts. of the "ScH" for any Australasian enlistee with the surname GALVIN without success.
Mike is right! The Australasians had a lot to show off about - and the Canadian MR and Dragoons were pretty good too!

Interesting observation on the QSA ribbons.

Any idea what the extra ribbon this fella has could be?

The spacing of the colours suggest it could well be the ribbon of the British South Africa Company medal. Such a combination with the QSA ribbon would not be all that unusual at the time.

Hello Again - my search continues.

Found another picture which if I am correct is likely later as there appears to be an additional chest ribbon.

Previously it was suggested the ribbon on earlier picture was QSM.

Am I correct in thinking the additional ribbon furthest left of chest could be a KSA?

As the subject's photo was taken at an angle, his ribbons are a little hard to read. However, as the white centre of the KSA ribbon tends to show up well in pics, I think you are correct. And the KSA was usually issued some time after the campaign in many instances.
