Thanks again Dave. He would have been 40 by the start of WW1 so maybe a bit old for the Royal Horse Artillery. But who knows? I'll continue with my search but your help is much appreciated. A.

Thanks Dave - he used the surname Fuller during his WW1 service and was in the Remounts having grown up around horses. Having abandoned his first family I guess he wasn't keen on being found so changed his name. He worked as a coachman in Kensington as did my great grandfather whose employer was a Mr Fuller by coincidence. However we are sure Fuller and Herbert are the same person as Fuller is shown living at my great-grandmother's address on his WW1 service records, her first husband having died in 1905, and they had 3 sons, all with Herbert as a middle name. Probably another family mystery which will never be completely solved.
