DLI would fit in with him being a Reservist and living in Sunderland, but I can't say for definite.

Private T W Cotterell 3636.....

I wonder if he ever ventured to other hot sunny climates before he went to South Africa?

The regiment's records are kept at the Durham County Record Office, but I couldn't find any mention of "Cottrell" in an online search.

Wish I could find out where he was before his call up for SA?

I've tried variations on Cottrell, but there's nothing in the Echo about the family, apart from a couple of In Memoriams for Thomas, the father, prior to Thomas Williams's death.

I'll be going to Sunderland once everything opens up, and I can ask in Local Studies if they can add anything, and also try to find out his exact grave location.
