Yes I've seen the unit information on this website and it says "G Darby" again which is a typo same as the Worcestershire Regiment website. Not sure if there's also a typo in In Memoriam by S Watt as this has been noted as the source. The original records I have are pretty clear it's a "T" but hey ho...! Thanks for your help.

Right place, right date, correct Regiment and Battalion but wrong number & initial! Looking back 120 years is a fraught and imperfect process. At least it adds a cause of death.
