Jack,

Here's the link to the SAC page on Ancestry: search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=View&r=5...=d&ssrc=&pid=1573234

Re the SAC papers, I would recommend contacting Audrey Portman. She has done some excellent work for me in the Pretoria archives in the past.

Best wishes
David

Jack,

Click on the Contacts button at the top of the screen and then click on Audrey's name. That will open up a screen where you can send her a message.

Best wishes

Hello Jack - hoping that nearly two years later, you will get notice of this reply. I found your post here on an internet search.

I was just messing around in old emails in which I'd been helping someone in England with family history, and vice versa, and came back to his query from several years ago about a family member who had come to Canada about 1914. Many more records are now available on line than there were at the time, so I took another stab at finding info about her.

It turns out that she married Herbert Douglas Watson in British Columbia in 1915. Various records for them can be found at the FamilySearch website. His marriage and death records show that he was born in 1881 in Bromley, Kent, parents Herbert Watson and Gertrude Reynolds, so he would definitely appear to be the HDW your query is about. He died in Victoria BC in 1934. Access to Canadian records is severely restricted by privacy legislation (e.g. no access to births in the last 100 years), but the death record for one child, who appears probably not to have had children, is available.

You can also search and view record images at this site:
search-collections.royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/Genealogy/basicSearch

I have just sent that info to my correspondent in England but am not sure whether it will reach him. Hopefully, I will manage to be in touch with both of you, if it turns out you have a mutual interest in HDW!
