Hello David,
I did not look any entries on any medal rolls because the entry in the roll of honour for the Great War is very clear "He represented the National Reserve at the coronation of George V" now that suggests to me that he was on duty in uniform and therefore he would be entitled to the medal.

Frank,

That would suggest his entitlement. I ask the question because I have struggled to verify coronation medals in the past.

Best wishes
David

Good morning David,
Yes, I know what you mean, I've always found the London Gazette to be useful for some, members of government, officers etc but the rank and file present issues so often, you end up having to look beyond the box walls.

Hi yes a family member sold them, we traced the company that bought them and they said they would ask the buyer if they wanted to sell, i dont think this happened.

i havent seen the notice you posted Frank-and thank you for that, but it reads G Cox took a horse back for his officer, how would he have been his officer, perhaps im being silly, i dont understand about it al but George was in the East Yorks and Berie Moeller was in the Middlesex?

is there anyway i can get to see his enlistment records, he was born in Walsall, but im assuming his family had moved back to Hull hence the East Yorkshires.

Oh my goodness im sat with my mouth open, the 'story' about him being recognised by an officer was thought to be one of those family things that get embelished, thank you so much for all that, how sad for his children, the family will enjoy hearing the full story, many many thanks

Dear Mrs K,

The Mounted Infantry Companies of the East Yorks and the Middlesex were fighting alongside each other in the 14th Battalion M.I.

Details of the doings of the 14th MI can be found in Moeller's posthumously published diaries ''Two years at the Front with the Mounted Infantry'. It includes an account of the action in which he was wounded.

Best wishes

Justin
