Hello David,
Unless I've missed the last 24 hours, it actually started yesterday,
do you think it was as busy as last year?

Great day out - loads of QSAs (most can be seen on the internet :( )

But I managed to pick out a "new" one, Sgt TG Morris 12th Lancers - not identified as a casualty at Magersfontein. Subsequent research shows, that while recovering at Netley, he was one of the "favoured few" to be presented to Queen Victoria.

Interesting "Single Clasp QSA" quandary - he was invalided in 1900 due to wounds and returned in April 1902 with the 16th Lancers. He appears on the 12th Lancers KSA roll with SA02 clasp only - but this whole entry is crossed out. The SA02 clasp was issued a year later (1904) from the 16th Lancers extra clasp roll, with the clear note that he was not eligible for a KSA. So it appears that it was deemed he did not spend enough time recuperating from his wounds to count towards the 18 months KSA eligibility.

A good day with a pretty good display of medals. I missed out on a nice pair due to not making my mind up at the time, never again! A nice 8 bar QSA and WW1 trio to the RAMC was still a little expensive after a small discount, so no purchase there. Made up for it with a very nice QSA to the ILH with Ladysmith and relief of Mafeking bars.

Still a few broken groups like the Dublins QSA with Talana and Transvaal, should have had the KSA?

Doug.

Yes, a thoroughly good day yesterday. It was great to catch up with lots of people and I am somewhat hoarse this morning!
