The shoot at Bisley was an unforgettable experience. Handling and firing the arms certainly brings you closer to the experience of the men involved on both sides of the conflict.
I very much enjoyed the Mauser!
I look forward to any future events.
Thank you to Rob for your organisation and to the gents who brought their vintage rifles to the range.

I am delighted to say I have permission to run another Boer War Open Day Shoot in 2023.
You can get an idea of the 2022 event here:https://www.flickr.com/photos/hbsa-uk/albums/72177720302183276
I'd be pleased to have suggestions about how to make the event even better. For example, should we have a display/exhibition? A talk on some aspect of the South African War? And what dates would be most suitable? Is a venue other than Bisley more convenient?
thanks!
Rob

Rob,

That is great news.

This year's event ticked all the boxes for me. I am not sure how it could be improved. I would be interested to learn more about the firearms themselves as that would give a greater appreciation of them. However, I realise that many attendees will already know that information so this is something I could do myself in advance.

Bisley is a historic location for such an event and has reasonable transport links.

With thanks
David
