TOPIC:

Howard was born on May 23, 1877 and died on 31 May 1956. He married Ella Sangster in 1907 and they had two children, the oldest being Thornton Howard, "Tony", who became well known for his work with Baird developing early television. There were many stories in the family regarding Howard's exploits and he was described at least once in my hearing as "barking mad"! In early 1900 the family was told that Howard had been killed in action but this was not the case and the attached letter later came through. I hope it comes out OK. Avril

While clearing our prior to moving house I have found a copy (not very clear) of a letter written by Howard Bridgewater to his younger brother Geoffrey (my grandfather) then aged 15. I am attaching pictures of the letter (not very politically correct I am afraid) in case it is of interest. Avril
