Having names attached certainly makes a photograph more interesting. Presumably Annie and Hilda Talbot were sisters and finding them on a roll would be a good starting point to research their background. Sergeant McCarty (?McCarthy) was probably a RAMC Orderley,so he too should be traceable. The two men from Zoutpansberg might also be researchable.
I hope that the medical staff and the Boer prisoners got on well together.

PS In my first admission to a hospital in the early 1950's, I shared a ward with an old man who had been on commando with the Boers. Although we spent several days together, I was too young and ignorant to ask him about his experiences. Perhaps it is just as well I did not know what he thought about me. I was in any case very intimidated by him and the ward Sister, which must have contributed to my relatively rapid recovery.
