It would still be nice to know if there is any mention of him in records of , or relating to , the HNC
If he self-awarded the CGSM , was there any basis or foundation for so doing ?
His renamed QSA does seem to be based on a possible entitlement

There are 14 medals to the HNC, all to officers as would be expected. It could be that he served with them for only a short period and thus was not awarded a medal? The reasons could include illness, not being fit to be a soldier or transgressing an Army regulation. It would be unusual to do this twice though.
