Hi

Of course the `Tugela Heights' clasp should not exist as a single clasp if you follow the rule book, but then a dated reverse Queen's medal should surely not exist either? However, Brett Hendey's contribution at the beginning of this topic shows how the rules came to be broken, apparently due to Winston Churchill's intervention.

The BSA Co medal issued to Blakeway is named: `Troopr. N. Blakeway. M.R.F.'.

Best regards
Peter

The Natal Troop is (or was) another of my interests, so I always hope to learn of more extant medals to this unit. The significance and value of Blakeway's medals are not diminished by my disappointment.

As Peter has pointed out, the issuing error was explained earlier, a situation that I think also adds to the interest and significance of the QSA.

Dear Brett & Peter

Apologies, I had not appreciated the purpose of the thread. I have removed my comments, which as you point out addded no value.

Interestingly, a brief glance at WO100/77 confirms the BSA Co medal with a note "c/o Mrs R Blakeway East London CC"
