Rawlinson | H S | | Major | Commissioned into King's Royal Rifle Corps, he later transferred to the Coldstream Guards. He was ADC to Roberts in India. Served in Omdurman in 1898 and was in Ladysmith in 1899 and later on Roberts' staff. He was a successful column commander in 1901-02 and promoted Colonel. 1914 commanded IV Corps, originally helping withdrawal of Belgian Army. 1916-18 Fourth Army. 1919 in charge of Allied withdrawal from Archangel and Murmansk. Between 1920-25, he was C in C India.
