Cholmondeley | Henry Reginald | | Captain | CHOLMONDELEY, HENRY REGINALD, Captain, was born 11 June, 1864, fourth son of Reverend the Honourable H P Cholmondeley. He served in South Africa in 1900, was mentioned in Despatches, and created a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order [London Gazette, 19 April, 1901]: "H R Cholmondeley, Captain, Brabant's Horse. In recognition of services during the operations in South Africa". The Insignia, Warrant and Statutes were sent to the Commander-in-Chief, South Africa; sent to the GOC, Transvaal, and presented 1 January 1902. Major Cholmondeley served in the European War in the 10th Battalion Devonshire Regiment He married, in 1903, Cordelia Mercy, daughter of James Cross Ormrod, of Wyrsiale Park, Garstang.
