Lloyd | Reade De la Pere | | Major | He was killed in action in Major General Smith-Dorrien's engagement of January 26th, 1901. He was the only son of Captain Lloyd, 57th Regiment, who was killed in action in New Zealand. Born, September 1860, Major Lloyd entered the 12th Foot, January 1880, being promoted Lieutenant January 1881, Captain May 1886, and Major February 1897. He served in the Hazara Expedition, 1888, with his battalion, receiving the medal with clasp. Major Lloyd who had served in South Africa from 1899, in the north of Cape Colony and in the Transvaal, was mentioned in despatches, LG, September 10th, 1901.
