Hood | Alexander Nelson | | Captain | He was killed in action at Elandslaagte, near Klerksdorp, February 25th, 1902. He was the eldest son of the Honourable Alexander Frederick Hood, third son of the third Viscount Hood, by his marriage with the daughter of Algernon C Heber-Percy. Captain Hood was born in October 1873, was educated at Radley, and entered the Manchester Regiment from the Royal Military College October 1893, being promoted lieutenant July 1896, and was transferred to the Indian Staff Corps August 1897. He was appointed ADC to the Lieutenant Governor of Bengal December 1899, but resigned this position in order to proceed to South Africa. He joined the Imperial Yeomanry in October 1901, and then served in the war up to the date of his death.
