HONOURING A RETURNED WARRIOR.
A public tea, concert, and presentation was given in honour of Trooper SPEAR, on Friday last, at Broadock, Lostwithiel, upon his return from the war in South Africa. A large number took tea. Trooper SPEAR was drawn from his father’s residence to the schoolroom in Canon Aldham’s carriage, headed by a long procession of horsemen carrying flags. Miss Aldham made the presentation of a gold curbed albert, with gold pendant attached and an inscription upon the pendant, a gold sovereign-purse, filled with sovereigns, and an illuminated address with Trooper SPEAR’s photo on the top. Trooper SPEAR’s father at one time was hind at Trengwainton, Madron.
