FAREWELL TO A VOLUNTEER.

About 40 old scholars of St. Andrew’s College, at the European Hotel last night, on the eve of his departure for South Africa, as, a member of the Fifth Contingent, gave a farewell to Trooper E. DWYER, son of the police magistrate. Mr J.E. Barnett presided. The evening was pleasantly spent in harmony and recitations, songs being contributed by Messrs M. Barnett, Warren (2), Cook, Cleary, Woods, Keating, and Town. Trooper DWYER was presented with a pair of field glasses, a watch and chain, a gold medal, a cigar box, and a whisky flash, the flask being given by Mr Bunhotz. He leaves to re-join the contingent by the 3.15 train today.
