A PRESENTATION.

While the men were at the wharf the opportunity was taken by the Minister for Lands to make a presentation to one of the contingent, who hails from the far Inland town of Boggabilla. The trooper in question was R.G. NEWLAND [sic], and the presentation, which came from his friends of the northwest, was in the form of a double gold albert, with a gold pendant attached, on which was Inscribed: "Presented to Trooper R.G. Newland [sic] by his Boggabilla friends to mark the occasion of his volunteering for active service In the Transvaal".

PRESENTATION TO A BUSHMAN.

After the arrival of the contingents Woolloomooloo Bay yesterday Mr Hassall (the Minister for Lands) made a presentation is one of the men. The Minister acted for the friends of Trooper R.G. NEWLANDS, the latter being the recipient. The present was a gold albert, with a gold pendant, on which was inscribed the following – "Presented to R.G. Newlands by his Boggabilla friends as a souvenir on the occasion of his volunteering for active service in the Transvaal".
