DAPTO.
On Saturday last, Private D. GOODSELL of the second contingent, returned to Dapto. He was accompanied by Private HEALY (son of Sergt. Healy, once of Wollongong) – of the Army Medical Corps. They were met at the station by the Rifle Club Reservists, the Oddfellows in regalia, and many of the public, and were escorted to the Club's Hall, where a formal, but hearty welcome was tendered. There was an after adjournment to the hotel, where a few toasts were honoured.
A reception, in the form of a smoke concert and dance, was on Thursday night, tendered to Private GOODSELL, who returned from South Africa during the week. The chair was taken by Mr Tickell. The usual loyal toasts were proposed and honoured in good style. The guest of the evening gave some good arid amusing accounts of his experiences in South Africa. Lance-Corporal HEALY, of the N.S.W. Army Medical Corps, was also present, and spoke of the excellent work done by the ambulance corps. Songs were rendered by Messrs Rosiers, Buchanan, and Holloway. Private GOODSELL was also presented with a gold medal by the inhabitants of the township. The dance was well patronised, and the hall was tastefully decorated. Mr J. Marshall had charge of the catering, which was carried out in the best of style.
