EGERTON. – Sergeant-Farrier HARRISON, who left with the Fifth Victorian Contingent, was welcomed home on Wednesday. Mr Couper, captain of the rifle club, presided, and the Mechanics’ Hall was filled, about 400 being present. Apologies from Captain P.C. Chirnside and Mr Holden, M.L.A.’s, were read. Mr D. Kerin, on behalf of the rifle club and residents of the district, presented Sergeant-Farrier HARRISON with a diamond locket, suitably inscribed, for the services he had rendered the empire. Councillors Crowe and Setter were among the speakers.

A RETURNED SOLDIER.

Farrier-Sergeant HARRISON, of Egerton, one of the returned soldiers, was presented with a gold locket by Mr D. Kerin, on behalf of the subscribers, at the Egerton Mechanics’ Institute last night. The hall was crowded. Subsequently Mr HARRISON was entertained at Setter’s hotel at a banquet.
