Last night, at Hickson's Hall, Enfield, a crowded and enthusiastic gathering assembled to give a send-off to several local volunteers of the Bushmen's Contingent. Those so honoured were: Privates H. TRELOAR, H. MAGNUSSEN, M.H. SEARLE, G.W. DAVIDSON, and C. SIMPKINS, and among the prominent citizens in tile hall were the Mayor of Enfield (Mr Thos. Hodson), in the chair; Mr Varney Parkes, M.L.A. for Canterbury; Mr W. Archer, M.L.A. for Burwood; Mr E. Scholes, Mr W.S. Treloar, Mr H. Beaumont, Mr J.T. Gawler, Mr A.H. Ralston (Mayor of Burwood), Mr C.H. Leighton, Mr H. Ireland, Mr H. Grainger, Mr A. Campbell, Mr C. Cooper, Mr E. Jenkins, and others. Each of the Enfield volunteers was presented with a valuable gold medal bearing the name of the recipient, and an inscription commemorative of the dispatch of the Bushmen's Contingent to South Africa, with date. A number of patriotic and inspiriting speeches were delivered during the evening, and an interesting programme of musical items concluded the proceedings. Among those who assisted were Messrs S.T. Gurney, Mealey, Cope, Cheeseman, T. Edwards, McCrae, J. Kirkland, Albertson, and W. Bennett.

The Bushmen's Contingent.

Last Tuesday, Enfield gave an enthusiastic send-off to Messrs G.W. DAVIDSON, M.H. SEALE, H. TRELOAR, H. MAGNUSSEN and C. SIMPKINS, members of the Bushmen's Contingent. Each of the gallant “five” was presented with a gold medal suitably inscribed.
