News from Lance-Corporal A.G. Wadge, 6th South Australian Contingent.
Yesterday (Sunday) a church parade was held, and after the service General Elliott visited us. He presented Major FRANSHAW [sic] (an English officer) with a gold medal and promoted him to the rank of lieutenant-colonel, and presented Lieutenant Langley (of the 5th S.A. Contingent) with the D.S.O for gallant work at Graspan. Lieutenant-Colonel FRANSHAW [sic] gave the whole of the brigade a pint of beer each — that meant 1000 pints — and we drank his health most heartily.
