RIFLE CLUB MOVEMENT.
On Saturday evening the mayor of Fitzroy (Councillor Barr) entertained about 70 members of the Fitzroy Rifle Club to a smoke-night at the local town-hall. The function was given as a send-off to two members of the club, Mr J. TALMAGE and Mr T. TRIGGS, who have been selected by the Imperial military authorities for military service In South Africa, and take their departure on Tuesday. The mayor proposed the toast of their health, and presented them each with a gold medal, while Councillor Renfrew (vice president) handed Mr TRIGG the money prizes he bad won during the past quarter in the inter club competitions, and Mr A. Goldman, the late employer of Mr TALMAGE, presented him with a silver-mounted pipe.
