At their own request a number of friends of William Graham CONNAL, of Frankston and East Melbourne, met at Ritchie's Coffee Palace last Tuesday week to wish him bon voyage, good luck, and a safe return to his native land, also to present him with a few mementos prior to his departure for South Africa as a private with the Fifth Contingent. Mr W.P. Mason, who acted as spokesman, on behalf of "Willie's" intimate friends presented him with a diamond locket, suitably inscribed, and on behalf of personal friends with a Webley revolver, case, and ammunition, silver mounted spirit flask, field glasses, 2 morocco-bound pocket books, wrist band and watch, compass, Captain's ring with suitable inscription, 2 silver match-boxes; gold-mounted Siberian pebble, gold locket, 1000 "Louis -Cohen" cigarettes, fountain pen, and silver-bound indelible pencil.
