A War Medal.

Undoubtedly the most handsome gold medal we have ever seen is the one which it is intended to present to Trooper LUFF by bis Gundagai friends. It was designed by Mr L.W. Riman, Guodagai, and weighs about half an ounce, being worth £5. The chaste workmanship is only excelled by the beauty of the design. The medal is heart shaped, and carries a miniature lion in solid gold on the top. The obverse bears the following inscription “Presented to Trooper W. Luff, Aust. Horse contingent Boer War, 1900, from his friends in the Gundagai district”. The medal reverse carries the flags of the British Empire (crossed) — the Union Jack and British Ensign — surmounted by a laurel wreath. As a valuable gift from admiring friends it should be preserved for generations; its intrinsic value, apart from the memories it perpetuates, renders it worthy of possession. The presentation will take place on Wednesday, November 7th.
