PRESENTATIONS.
……. a social gathering was held in the Masonic Hall on Saturday.
The gathering was taken advantage of to present Trooper W.V. McJANNETT, a returned soldier from South Africa, with a silver medal from his comrades on the traffic staff. It bore the following inscription: "Presented to Trooper W.V. McJannett by the Goulburn railway traffic staff on his return from the war. 1901". The presentation was made by Mr Milne, who spoke of the patriotism displayed by the men who volunteered from Australia to assist England in her hour of need. Their young friend had shown that he was willing to take all the chances of war in order to maintain the honour of the old flag. Mr McJANNETT, who was taken completely by surprise, appropriately acknowledged the present.
