RETURNED SOLDIER.

Mr John KNOBEL, one of the returned soldiers from South Africa, who arrived last week in Sydney by the steamer Aurania, is to be accorded a welcome home in the shape of a social evening at the School of Arts tonight.

SOCIAL.

A welcome home was given to Mr J. KNOBEL, of Pleasant Hills, who has just returned from South Africa, last Friday night at the School of Arts, by the townspeople. The guest was entertained at a dinner, and presented with a gold medal. He recounted some stirring experiences during his 15 months’ absence. Mr F.W. Spence presided at the gathering.
