INTERESTING PRESENTATION AT HARTLEPOOL.
On Monday night, at the Northumberland Arms, Hartlepool, a social gathering was held for the purpose of making a presentation to Mr SKINNER, who for two years has been out in South Africa. Mr Thomas Boagey, who occupied the chair, assured Mr SKINNER, who had been in several engagements with Lord Methuen, how very glad they were to see him home again, and how much they appreciated his service to his country. On behalf of the friends and subscribers, he asked him to accept a gold medal and purse of silver, as a token of their regard. Mr SKINNER briefly and feelingly responded. Refreshments were provided in the course of the evening by the host and hostess (Mr and Mrs Mark Owen). The following gentlemen contributed to the harmony of the evening. Messrs Lawson, Cooper, Cookson, Ramsay, Nellist, and Owen. Toasts of “Royal Family” and “Army and Navy”, given with musical honours, brought a most enjoyable evening to a close. Mr H. Lindridge officiated at the piano.
