WELCOMED HOME.
HARTLEY VALE, Tuesday.
Last night Trooper William LACKEY, one of the returned soldiers, was presented in the Oddfellows' hall with a gold medal and albert. Mr Skelly made the presentation, and referred in flattering terms to the many good qualities of the guest. The recipient suitably replied, after which a social and dance was held. Trooper LACKEY was working on the Rand just prior to the outbreak of hostilities, and returned to fight for the flag by the last contingent. He was subsequently invalided home.
