Medallion, to:

Honourable Artillery Company –

Lieutenant-Colonel the EARL of DENBIGH and DESMOND

Anna H. Smith (Commemorative Medals of the Z.A.R., 1958, p.81) writes:

According to a letter from Colonel Sir Edward Ward, Permanent Under-Secretary of War, quoted in the periodical, South Africa, 13 July 1901, p.111, c.3, a medal similar to that given for the C.I.V. was to be "presented to Lieutenant-Colonel the Earl of Denbigh and Desmond on behalf of the Honourable Artillery Company of London". No mention of this medal has been traced in the history of the Honourable Artillery Company or in the books on medals, and it is therefore not known whether a medal exists in a slightly different form for presentation in connection with the H.A.C.
