The guests of the evening – Cyclist Jack HARCUS, Privates Jas. THOMSON, James INGLIS, and Wm. BAIN, along with Trooper Alfred GRAHAM of the Imperial Yeomanry, who had just returned that day from South Africa – were accommodated in a conspicuous position in the front row of the platform, and as they entered the hall dressed in khaki uniform and took their seats they had a rousing reception.
