HOME FROM THE WAR.
The people in the Mepunga and Nirranda district have been kept busy of late in bidding farewell to young men who are proceeding to South Africa with the Commonwealth Horse, and in welcoming home soldiers from the war.
The returning soldiers are Lieutenant R. BURNIE, Sergeant-Major HESKETH, and Corporal W. MORGAN, who have been given a very hearty welcome by friends and relatives, and socials are being tendered to them. Sergeant-Major HESKETH, of the Fifth Contingent, was presented by the men under him with a gold watch and chain as a memento of their appreciation of the services rendered by him.
