PENNAN.
Ball.
Send off to Volunteer.
A ball was held in Mr West’s Hall, Pennan, on Thursday night, for the purpose of giving a hearty send-off to Mr Richard WATT, baker, who is leaving for South Africa to join Baden-Powell’s Police. Music was supplied by Messrs Wm. White, New Aberdour, and Wm. West, Pennan. Mr George West was M.C. During an interval Mr James Reaich, M.A., Schoolhouse, Auchmedden, in very complimentary remarks presented Mr WATT with a gold albert and pendant as a mark of esteem from the people of Pennan (his native village). Mr Woolnaugh, chief coastguard, supplemented Mr Reaich’s remarks in praise of Mr WATT. Afterwards Mr WATT feelingly replied. There was a large company, and a highly enjoyable evening was spent.
