A social evening was tendered to Trooper A. ANDREWS, of the New South Wales Mounted Rifles, in Flood's Hall, Redfern, on the 15th instant, to celebrate his return from South Africa. Mr ANDREWS has been right through the campaign, having left with the first contingent. A goodly number were present, and dancing, under the direction of Messrs B. White and E. Chapman as Ms.C., was indulged in until early in the morning. Vocal items were rendered by Messrs G. Argue, L. Robey, A. ANDREWS, S.J. Davis, Geo. Brown, and E. Edmonds. During the evening Mr S. Davis, on behalf and at the request of the friends present, presented Mr ANDREWS with a gold medal, as a token of esteem and goodwill, and all good wishes for future prosperity. Mr ANDREWS suitably responded. Altogether a very enjoyable time was spent, which was mainly due to the combined efforts of Messrs J. Hudson and J. Robertson as hon. secretaries, and Mr H. Scott, hon treasurer.
