F COMPANY 4TH V.B.R.S. COMPLIMENTARY “SMOKER”.

The members of this company and friends held a complimentary smoker in the Imperial Hotel on Saturday night to the men of the company who had been to the front with the 2nd and 3rd Service Companies and cyclists of the Royal Scots. Lieutenant Wedderburn Smart occupied the chair, and was accompanied on the platform by Colonel Martin, V.D.; Colonel Douglas Elliot, V.D.; Captain Robbie, and Lieutenants Orrock and Brown. During the evening, Colonel Elliot made a presentation to each of the service men (12 in all) from their comrades in the company, and referred to the esteem in which they held these men for their patriotism and valour. Colonel Martin also spoke. Songs, recitations, pianoforte and violin solos served to vary the proceedings. The presentation consisted of a silver pendant with gold centre, with the recipient’s name engraved on it.
