On Saturday night, at Mr Robert Walker’s Wheatsheaf Inn, Ryhope, a company numbering over 200 assembled for the purpose of making a presentation of a gold albert and medal to Private John COMBE, of the 1st Durham Light Infantry, who has lately returned home after serving two years and ten months in South Africa. The chair was occupied by Mr Thomas Hedley, and the vice-chair by Councillor Robert Richardson.
