This is the same medal, by Ellis & Co., that was used for the Toronto presentations, except with a different suspension bar and ribbon.

Each of the men also received $31.60.

Money, Medal, Banquet.

St. Thomas, Dec. 19. – Monday night the City Council decided to present each of the five returning South African soldiers, representing the city, with $31.60 and a suitable medal. The money is taken from the Home-Coming Fund, raised in the city. A banquet will also be tendered them.
