MILITARY TOURNAMENT.
SPORTS AND PRESENTATION AT STEVENSTONE.
The A Squadron of the Royal North Devon Imperial Yeomanry held a military tournament, by kind permission of the Hon. Mark and Lady Gertrude Rolle, in the grounds of Stevenstone Park, near Torrington, yesterday, being witnessed by a large number of persons. …….
After the sports, Lady Gertrude Rolle, on behalf of the Squadron, presented the watch chains to the men [members of the Squadron who had seen active service in South Africa]. Her ladyship also presented, on behalf of the parishioners of St Giles, a silver watch and gold chain to Tpr. TANTON, who volunteered in the U Battery, R.H.A., for the South African war.

On the proposition of Mr Couch, seconded by Mr J. Hookway, it was unanimously resolved that it be recorded in the Parish Council minute book, that in accordance with a resolution passed at the last meeting, a present, subscribed for by the parishioners of St Giles, had been presented by the Lady Gertrude Rolle to William TANTON, junr., who has recently returned from the front, consisting of an English lever watch with suitable inscription, and a gold chain and pendant.
