Whitby’s Warm Welcome.

Whitby, Jan. 16.

This town cut itself loose for once in honouring returning Trooper LOOSEMORE of the C.M.R.  Mayor Ross proclaimed yesterday afternoon a public holiday and the citizens elaborately decorated the line of march from the G.T.R. station up to the town. Long before the train conveying Trooper LOOSEMORE arrived, the route of the parade was lined with an enthusiastic crowd of citizens and visitors. After the parade, Trooper LOOSEMORE made a neat little speech to the crowd.

In the evening the Music Hall was densely packed. Mayor Ross presided, patriotic addresses were delivered by Lieut.-Col. Farewell, Major Routledge, Major Henderson, Dr Waugh, Dr McGillivray, Mr Chas. King, the local clergy and others. Mr LOOSEMORE was presented with a valuable gold watch by the citizens.
