Obverse with King's Crown, surmounted by crossed rifles. Recipient’s name on a circular cartouche: "H. Adams".
Reverse: "FOR SOUTH AFRICA / 1899 TO 1902 / WHITWOOD RESERVIST / FUND".

WHITWOOD ACTIVE SERVICE MEN’S WELCOME HOME.

Some 25 Reservists and Volunteers, employees of Messrs Hy. Briggs, Son, and Co., who served in the late war, were entertained to a dinner in the Whitwood Colliery Schools on Wednesday by the Committee of the Whitwood Collieries Reservists’ Fund.

Mr A. Currer Briggs presided, and each man was presented with a gold medal, bearing on one side his name, and on the other “For South Africa, 1899 to 1902, Whitwood Reservists’ Fund”.
