It is nit-picking, I know, but the use of the term 'Cape Mounted Police' in a Boer War context is incorrect. The text of the report refers to the 'Cape Police', which is correct. The 'Cape Police' evolved into the 'Cape Mounted Police' after the war. The CMP later evolved into the 1st South African Mounted Rifles. I mention this because there is a similar misuse of 'Natal Mounted Police' during the Boer War. The NMP existed between 1874 and 1894, after which they became the 'Natal Police', which later evolved into the 2nd and 3rd S A Mounted Rifles. Brett
