Town Guards

I am currently researching my great grandfather who was part of the Nesbitt's Horse. I have medals which state 1914-1918 with Nesbitt's Horse on the Back. The question I have is was the Nesbitt's Horse a South African Regiment that assisted Britian in WW1?
