Add Captain R.H.M.C. Miers who was killed during a "white flag" incident on 25th September 1901 at Riviersdraai near Heidelberg, Transvaal, by Veldcornet Van As. Miers was under secondment to the SAC, being a 2nd Lt. in the 2nd Battalion of the Somersetshire Light Infantry. In terms of the final Peace Treaty Van As was handed over for trial to the British, was found guilty and sentenced to death. he was executed on 23rd June 1902 by a ten-man firing squad of the Somersets at the back of the old jail in Heidelberg. Both adversaries are buried in the old Heidelberg cemetery.
